The Performance Project @ University Settlement engages young local artists and emerging professional artists with opportunities to connect, create and publicly present new work. Our neighborhoods have no shortage of creative leaders from all walks of life, at every stage in their development. The shortage lies in the opportunities available. This is where we are excited and ready to support these leaders.
Our incubator for the next generation of citizen artists is a community within a community. It is fueled by our distinct, yet connected, cohorts: the Artist-in-Residency for Professional Artists, The Performance Project Fellowship for Emerging Artists (ages 18-26), and our Performance Intensive for Young Artists (ages 14-18). We also host our SHARE salon program for professional and community artists, and offer dynamic guest artists an affordable and supportive opportunity to self-produce their work. Whatever an artist needs to thrive, or simply get started, we strive to provide.
This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
